Introduction to Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center

Located in Qilihe District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, the Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center is adjacent to the Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center Station of Metro Line 1, with a straight-line distance of about 6 kilometers from the Lanzhou West High-Speed Railway Station. Adopting the PPP model, the project has a total investment of 5.4 billion RMB, a total land area of about 516,000 square meters, and a total construction area of about 450,000 square meters. With "Flying Apsaras and Dancing Flowers" as its design concept, the architecture and landscape resemble flowers and ribbons dancing on the Silk Road, undulating and complementing each other. The project officially commenced in July 2019 and is expected to be fully completed by early 2022. The main venues of the Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center include a stadium, a comprehensive arena, a swimming gymnasium, and a tennis gymnasium (one stadium and three gymnasiums). In addition, there are supporting facilities such as outdoor national fitness sports grounds, athlete apartments, and sports industry buildings. Among them, the stadium has a construction area of 80,400 square meters and a total of 60,000 seats; the comprehensive arena has a construction area of 40,750 square meters and a total of 8,000 seats; the swimming gymnasium has a construction area of 32,000 square meters and a total of 3,000 seats; the tennis gymnasium has a construction area of 11,500 square meters and a total of 3,000 seats; the athlete apartments and sports industry buildings have a construction area of 265,300 square meters. In accordance with the construction requirements of a "Healthy China and Sports Powerhouse", the Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center is the first sports venue in Gansu Province capable of hosting international individual events and domestic comprehensive sports events. In the future, through three to five years of effort, the Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center will be built into a "first-class in the nation, uniquely characterized" modern urban sports service complex, gradually forming a distinctive ecosystem of "Refined Lanzhou, Fashionable Olympic Sports". It will become an important platform for external sports and cultural exhibition and exchange along the "Belt and Road", playing an important role in enhancing Lanzhou's urban construction level, establishing a new city image, and increasing Lanzhou's national and even international influence.
